How much of a pain in the

…rear, is changing brake pads for races? I’m thinking of getting some aero carbon race wheels, and still use my aluminium clinchers for training. Does the need for cork brake pads drive you crazy when you have change from the compound pads for aluminium rims, to cork for races?

Any feedback, or maybe I’m missing something?

Thanks in advance.

it is a big PITA. I used to TT thursdays and then ride the rest of the week on regular wheels. Every week (and always late) having to change out pads. It is not a big job, but if you just run one bike (I used to have to install clipons, wheels, change seat position all in the 30 mins between finishing work and going out for the warmup for the weekly TT. If it is just for races and you only do these every few weeks or months, it won’t be much of a problem at all…

I don’t just change the pad. I find it easier to change the complete pad and holder. Takes about 5 mins, and if you buy a spare set of pads for alu rims, you can often get them with holders. Problem solved.

Or better yet, don’t brake while you’re racing. It slows you down!

Nah, jk. I was wondering the same thing awhile ago.
