How much is to much for an entry fee? Or with the positive spin, how much would you spend for a sprint, 1/2, Iron distance?
Im not sure how much is too much, but Ill never pay more than the following amounts for a race fee (not including travel, food, etc) sprint: 50.00 oly: 85.00 (more if its supposed to be a good one) half im: 200.00 (but would have to be sweet, most are like 150.00-180.00) im: whatever they ask, as long as the costs are where they are now (imaz was 475.00) marathon: 85.00 1/2 marathon:60.00 Century ride: 30.00

Entry fees are by far the cheapest part of any race

I agree. when you consider all the cost associated with the sport entry is by for the cheapest yet it can generally make or break the experience. Would you raher pay a little more to insure there are enough marshalls and the race is safe or would you rather pay a little less and take your chances.
My feeling the reason people pay so much for the IM experience is that they know the race will generally be a safe race.

Serious question/thought in light of rising entry fees.
wow 50 for a sprint and 85 for a oly. Those races down there are expensive.
