I am trying to set some realistic goals. 2 years ago I could hold 273 watts for 30 minutes. Right now I am at about 250 watts for this duration because I have been off the bike for so long. When I was able to hold 273 watts for 30 minutes (powertap and CT results),* * I was training only 2-3 days per week on the bike. Realistically, I think I will be back to the 270ish watts level in a couple of weeks. I am curious what others on this forum have experienced in their progress in terms of threshold watts when they have trained considtently (6 days a week) on the bike for a period of 6 months.
Can’t answer your question (sorry). But I’m in a similar situation, so I was interested to see your post. 18 months ago I did a 30-minute test at 205 watts. Two days ago, after a year away from structured training, I did a 30-minute test at 178 watts. That’s a 13% decline.
I’m less optimistic than you about the time to get it back. My hunch is that it will take months. But I too would be curious about setting realistic goals.
I saw that thread right after I posted. 12 weeks. Cool!
