How many seasons do mid weight trainers or higher weight racing flats last?

I got a pair of asics speedster (the netural verison of the DS trainer I think) that have about 4 olympic distances, and 4 sprints on them and a few not many track workouts. two seasons. Are they done? the milage is well under 250?

I’ve never been able to get more than one season out of the DS Trainer or Mizuno Elixer.

The shoes feel dead after 150 miles or so. Maybe it’s just me.

For me it’s mileage, not seasons, that determines how long a shoe will last. You can add to the life of your shoes by applying “Shoe Goo” to the outsoles right from the start. It will prevent wear of the outsole.

Beyond that, brands and models vary widely. I’ve had flats that lasted me no more than 200 miles and some that lasted over 400 and I just finished up with a freakish pair of lightweight trainers that lasted me over 1500 miles, thanks to regular Shoe-Goo use

The wear on the outsole of a shoe does not determine wether its worn out or not,(unless its blown threw to the midsole), if it did my shoes last forever, its the midsole that makes the difference. So that being said it depends on so many factors, weight, how efficient you are , are you a severe overpronator, conditions the shoe has been raced it and so on! Also, if your are putting shoe goo on your training or racing shoes then you are ready for new ones, remember your feet are one of the most important parts of your body you should invest in!!

Asics reps said their shows should last 400 - 500 miles if you are a light runner and around 250-300 if you are a little heavy footed. iseem to get around 250-300 out of asics 2130’s

I agree with jaret- about 1 season.

sounds like they need to go!! Ohh well nice to know them.

midsole wears much quicker than the outsole…unless of course you’re running on glass shards…then I think it doesn’t matter.

Have to second tricrazy on this one. There are so many factors that go into how a shoe wears that any mileage or time guidelines are very loose guesses. Even when they try to factor in weight. I ran with a 95 lb. girl who destroyed pretty sturdy trainers within 200-250 miles every time. I can get 500-600 miles out of my racing flats (Asics DS Racers, currently) using them as a full time trainer.

How does the shoe feel on runs? Do you hurt more than you did when the shoes were new for similar workouts?

How does the shoe feel in your hand? Is it really flexy now? Can you squeeze the midsole in the forefoot and flex it into a u shape?

Gauging shoe wear is pretty subjective.

No it doesn’t.
