All broadcast complaints and complements aside, did you make good use of that time? I set up my fluid trainer and pedaled for two hours. If I just sat on the couch and drank beer, I would have felt like I wasted that time.
No. My wife and I rode before and ran after.
Show time was recovery time for me and some buddies after a 4K swim and 2.5 hour bike ride. We rode hard, drove to Chipotle, grabbed some mega burritos, then plopped down on the couch to: (a) drool over Desiree; (b) complain about the lack of pro coverage; (c) speculate on the stupidity of stacking multiple water-soaked sponges inside one’s jersey; (d) trying not to bawl when Blaze’s buddies were doing their thing. All in all, a good waste of 2 hours and time well spent.
Nope. Rode outdoors prior, then ate lunch while watching.
I went for a nice 2 hour ride. I already knew who won so what’s the point…
My sweetie and I rode and ran beforehand, drank beer on the couch during the broadcast. ![]()
I watched it on Tivo at Chris Lieto’s fundraiser, sitting with some fellow ST’rs. A very nice afternoon.
yup, made real good use of the time, did a 6 hour ride and missed it. I heard some German guy won the men’s race a local girl (local to me) won the women’s race.
i watched it live during a study break (final exams) but my wife’s watching it right now while riding her trainer.
best coverage in years, IMHO.
I was at the gym during the first half-hour of the broadcast - it seemed that most people there who were working out on some type of aerobic equipment were watching the Kona coverage and not paying attention to the Div. 1-AA playoff game or the college basketball game on the other TVs.
Recovery time after a 1:40 spin and 8k swim in the morning ![]()
I brought my bike into the living room so she could watch too, and made pizza!
Taped it and have yet to watch it because:
- I had to watch my 3-year old.
- I’d rather zap through the commercials.
I’ve been avoiding all the threads about the telecast so I don’t spoil it. Plan to watch it tonight.
My wife said “did you know you were standing for that whole coverage?” I guess I was into it.
I had the same idea.
I went to the club and ran on the treadmill.
I watched it on ironmanlive…so much better.
jaretj
i did …I had just completed swapping out my Vision aero bars for T2 carbons…sat on the trainer for an hour watching the show…
I ran 10 during the broadcast.
Rode the trainer for 1:40, drank water, & snacked on fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. I was well stimulated.
Changing cogs every 5 minutes makes for a brain-free workout.
No, but went out and did 75 miles on the bike in 3:27 and arrived home in time for an ice bath, a stretch, and then some Kona, in that order. ![]()
yup, made real good use of the time, did a 6 hour ride and missed it.
I must be doing something right
I did the same thing - even threw a little T-Run in afterwards just to make up for my lack of swimming .
I ran for an hour and then cleaned the kids playroom/training room for the rest of the broadcast.
