Cheers,
Just a recreational triathlete here, only doing 8 to 10 hours a week this time of the year. Predominantly swim/run but still getting a bit of trainer time while waiting for the ice to melt.
I’m about 17 hours per week for the last two 3 week cycles…but apparently still very light on the swimming compared to others: 2 hours swim; 9 hours bike; 6 hours run. Now, I’m going into a two week bike focus block and I fully expect to hit the high 20’s, mostly on bike volume but still a fair amount of running and some swimming (2 hours / 20-22 hours / 4-6 hours)
like a few others, I’m in full IM prep mode for IMAZ.
(note: I normally don’t do the large volume stuff, save for 1-3 weeks per year. I also burn vacation time to do it…)
Slacker…if you’re gonna “kick ass” in September, you’d better be ramping up your volumn or you’ll die during mile 2 of the run.
: )
.
I had 15.5 hours last week done as
6.5 bike
3 hours of Crossfit
6 hours swimming
Currently no running as I am 5.5 weeks post ankle surgery
.
15 h this week. Also training for IM AZ -
S: 2:50
B: 8:10
R: 4 h
In 4 swims, 3 rides, 3 runs. 15 h is pretty much my max, I’ll probably have one or two longer weeks in the next month, but not by much.
Jealous! But then again, a 25 h week sounds painful - can’t imagine my body would survive doing that regularly!

I’ve been at that volume since I picked up training again in Mid November. So far I seem to be handling it. Low intensity is the key so far!!!
I think you would adapt to it easily if you built up to that volume. Jealous! that you don’t have to do that just to be as good as you are. Scary is what it would be if you did ever train at those volumes!! Freaking scary!
Swimming : 4.5h
Cycling : 9h
Running : 5h

I agree with Gandalf…you’d be scary even if you put in 22-25 hours every 3rd week for a few months! Seriously, you’d be putting down pro zone times (no disrespect to the pros currently beating you).

I have an early season 1/2IM, so I am pretty much in all-out mode…
Last week was approx:
Bike - 7hrs
Run - 4hrs
Swim - 4.5hrs
Strength - 1.5hrs
Total - 17hrs
Got another heavy week this week and then only a couple more before I head to Oceanside.

I was worried that I would be on the high side and people were going to give me grief about it ![]()
