How many falls......?

So whats your record for number of falls in one day? I started it off by ripping my foot out of my pedal on a climb on the 101 tonight. Some how my foot came out of the pedal, and got sucked into the back wheel. Down I went. At least I wasn’t going that fast. I noticed that a part of my cleat is broken off, guess its time for some new cleats. Then I took off for a run. Well, that went good for about 2 miles. Then I caught my toe on a crack in the pavement, down I went. Landed on both my knees and the palm of my right hand. So, now I have a few scrapes on my knees and a good bruise on my palm.

Road biking and running, I’ve never fallen more then once. Now, mountain biking is a different story. I’ve fallen so many times in one day that I loose count.

Some of the bad ones…were BAD!! I used to fall off my police mountain bike at least once per shift. Going down stairs and such leads to this quite often. Even smashed a $1,200 police radio into 3 pieces one night while riding without a light, following a suspect and hit a step I never knew was there. Over the bars…there goes the radio!!! : )

The worst was descending in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA…through a long rock pile trail. The front wheel gets stuck in between the rocks and I go over the bars with the barend stuck in my groin. Not wanting to be beat by the trail, I try it again. The front wheel gets stuck between 2 rocks and over the bars I go with the barend stuck in exatly the same spot in the same groin. I ended up in the hospital to be sure there was no internal bleeding it was so bad. BTW - I walked through the rest of the rock pile before I killed myself : )

Once is my record. Running or biking. The only time I have fallen running was when someone put invisible twine in my path and I went down on the concrete…very mean in my opinion.

three times for me, all dumb newb cycling errors…forgetting to unclip at lights (x two), and the first time i pulled off the shoulder onto gravel…all at low to nil speed fortunately (edit: oops, didn’t see the one day thing…these were within my first month)

Not a good day for you! I’ve never gone down more than once on the road, but I go down at least once per hour in XTERRA…
