How Many? (Chattanooga Triathlon)

“Over 1,100 athletes participated in Sunday’s 3rd Annual BMW of Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon. This marks a record for the event.” (Link)

“More than 1,300 “Triathletes” took to the streets and waters of the Scenic City.” (Link)

“More than 1500 people put their fitness skills to the test at the B.M.W. of Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon.” (Link)

Funny, Team Magic capped the entries at 1200. Only the first one can be correct.

Well, take into account relays of 2 or 3 people. I am not sure how many, but the entries were capped ending up I think the highest number was 1204… not sure but Therese said that. I don’t know how many 2 person or 3 person relays. My hubby was on one and it was supposed to be 2 people but the biker was having hip problems, so he did the run. “2 Old Guys” but it ended up being 3 guys, one at 35.

GT, they are all correct if you think about it.
Over 1100 participated, but surely more than 1300 people athletic persons took to the streets to race and watch the race.
Any to take it literal, surely more than 1500 put their fitness skills to the test, between racers, volunteers and spectators.

You are just trying to whitewash over poor reporting!

I just found the number differences funny.

Funny, Team Magic capped the entries at 1200.

I did a race a couple of weeks ago that was capped at 500. They announced over the PA on race day that there were more than 550 competitors there.

Why does it even really matter???
