Just got a new bike,(Scott Plasma) and would really like to race Ironman LP on it which is July 22. Is it too soon to switch? Even if my set will be pretty similar to my current ride and with the same saddle? I’ve gotten mixed reviews from training buddies. Some feel its no problem while others are dead against it. One of my closest friends got on a new P3carbon a week before IMLP last year and had PR bike split? any suggestions/comments would be great!!!
If you aren’t making siginficant changes to your position, ride the new bike.
Couple of years ago… Four days before IMFLA I took my Tachyon to the shop for a prerace check. They found a fracture in the chainstay. After they defibrilated, and took me off O2, they let me borrow a Felt DA65. Did not get a chance to ride until Fla arrival. Fit, ride, result were fine. If it fits, ride the new one.
Go for it. Took me about 10 mins to get used to my new bike (tri bike, after only having ever ridden a road bike). My first time on it outdoors was in an Oly race and I had the best race of my life. Keep in mind this was a very different position than I had come from.
Go for it and enjoy it!
With a 999 disc set, full Record package, powertap, Garmin 305 edge and that $450.00 carbon seat, should take about 14.34765 minutes give or take .0116532 of a second. Just make sure the seat height is correct. And put some cow bells on it! Nothing like cow bells at LP on Mirror Lake Drive to cure the Ironman Fever! LOL!

Well i wish i had the extra cash for all that extra jazz…Im not even sure what some of those things are that you mentioned. as it is is now Im flipping over the sofa cushions looking to scrap together enough change so I can pay for a proper Fit… I am however thinking of throwing a pink plastic basket on the front for my food instead of a Bento this year!!! The cow bells are a rockin idea too!!!
Go for the fit, your heads in the right place. Forget all the other stuff as base speed and power are directly dirived from time in the saddle, not toys on the 'net.
