How long in the pool?

I’d like to get feedback on how long your typical (median) swim workout is from the time you walk through the front door of the gym to the time you leave?

I swim 6-7 times a week and my average in the water workout is 1:15 but total time I’m there is around 1:30.

I live across the street from my pool, so my = + <5 minutes to change afterwards>

Currently training 3x a week for a little under an hour, but first tri season so don’t do what I do.

40 minutes to and from plus 1:30 at pool (60 min swim) x 4 per week ~8:30 per week

Right now I’m in the pool for 50 minutes three times per week and usually run for 45-90 minutes on the treadmill afterward depending on the day of the week. That will change in March to 5 times per week an the morning before work and biking or running after work.

Out the door at 0445, in the pool at 0505, out of the pool at 0600, on the road heading to the train station at 0645.

Wow! What time do you go to bed? Do you have kids?

Monday/wed out the door at 5:30am in the pool 5:45-7am for roughly 4200m.

Friday out the door at 4am swim 5am-6:15am

I’m in bed by 9pm nightly. Kids are all under 4 and are sleeping at 7:30pm so I get about an hour to sit my ass on the couch

Damn. Your alarm goes off in the three o’clock hour?

Only on Fridays but it’s a special squad at a beautiful 50m pool so I suck it up for that one.

I can sleep in a bit in Saturdays so if it wasn’t a Friday swim no way I could handle it…

Lazy swimmer who lives very near (2 miles) to my club.
5-6’ to get dressed / 30-60’ swim / 10-20’ hot tub, shower & dress … So I don’t even go unless I have a full hour.
The norm for me is just 2 swims (1500-3000+ yards) a week. Usually a 5:45-6:30 swim on a weekday morning & a weekend swim. Three or 4 X a week is great, but rare.

I walked out of my office go to the pool across the hallway swim go back to my office. commute time’ about 7 seconds. swim for an hour.

I’m 53, my kids are grown (and mostly gone), and my wife is in the sport also. I get home from work about 1830, run or bike depending on the day, the season, and what I’m training for, eat and go to bed about 2100 or 2130. I only swim 3 days a week, and only 2 during the week, so it isn’t a big demand on my time.

Swim 3-5 days a week. Mostly at lunch during the week with an occasional weekend swim . Most workouts in the 3000-3500 range. 8-10 minutes to pool, change, swim, shower return. Usually gone about 1 hour 45 min from office. I bring a sandwich and eat when I return to work. If schedule messes up lunch swim I will swim early @ 5:15/5:30am. I have my own business so have some flexibility but I am always at work by 7:00am.

On the average, I swim about 5000 yds in about 1.5 hrs, 4 days per week when biking and running a lot; total time in the pool complex is about 2 hrs. When not biking and running much, I swim 7 days per weeks, just under 2 hrs/day, with total time in the complex about 2.5 hrs. Last year I mainly swam and ran, so I swam 363 days out of the 365 in the yr with my avg swim time at about 1:55 and avg distance per workout about 6500 yds with lots of kicking and IM sets for variety. Ran 5 days/wk with avg run of 5 mi/day and biked an avg of zero mi/day. (I did 2 swim/run races in 2013 but no tri’s:))

Walk in the door at 5:15, out at 7. I change into my suit there, then shower afterwards. Time in water 1:15ish.

45-50 min in water. 3x/week for now. 4x/week come March.

In the pool for about 90 minutes, 1hr 15min of wet time 4-5x week now :slight_smile:
