You know the bracelet you wear that matches your race number. Even though I DNF’d IMFL I’m still wearing it. I’ll probably cut it off tomorrow. Every time I look at it I get more motivated to kick ass next year.
I cut mine off on Monday after the race. I wish I had cut it off earlier so I could save it (sort of like you (well, your parents) save your bracelet from when you are born) with all the race # etc on it. It was all rubbed off by the time I cut it off.
Haven’t done IM but I always chop off or clean off any evidence of a race as soon as I can. Preferably in transition area before I leave.

Ditto. Note to self… next IM, cut off bracelet and bag it immediately. Or, better yet, perhaps IM should consider making bracelets with lettering that doesn’t wipe off, allowing us to bask in the glow a few more days, weeks, months – heck, I paid a buck for my Livestrong bracelet and it has lasted a year.

I managed to removed mine from my last IM without cutting it so it’s in the bottom of my bike tool box, but I could put it bake on anytime! 
Normally I take it off few hours after the finish.

I can’t remember where I was when they announced this LP, or IMFLA that year. But they brought this lady on stage where she had worn her bracelet for a whole year, as she also DNF’d, but signed up for the following years IM and she wore it to remind her of what she did and motivated her throughout the year to train and finish the next IM. Oh and I cut off my IMFLA bracelet last Tuesday, when I got the Kona one, I left it on for months.
before i took a shower in my rental condo. about 1.5 hours after i finished.
I know a guy who DNFed at the first IM Cali who left it on until the next year and he finished. I leave mine on until I get home from the race venue.

I left mine on until I left the big island a couple days after the race. (we went to Maui afterwards and I did see a few people there still wearing theirs)
I wore mine for a week. I wish I had taken it off earlier to save the print. Oh well, next time!
both times I did Hawaii I kept it on til I got home a week later, then I saved them next to my finisher’s medals. On the other hand, I hate bracelets since they can hurt your nipples everytime you shower.
