How long before Rummy "resigns"?

I’ll give him until Thanksgiving.

Between the Army/Navy/AF Times editorials and the election results, I believe that not even Karl Rove is dumb enough to stay the course.

I read on National Review - they are giving Rummy unti December to resign and make room for Sec of Defense Sanotorum.

Hopefully rummi and cheney will have a lot more time to go hunting together.

I know this is falling on deaf ears, but take the politics away and those are probably two of the nicest guys to hang with in Washington. Remember the Cheney\Lieberman debate in 2000? One of (if the the most) civil and attack free debates in recent history. And have you heard the many famous Rummy press conferences? Even when he is asked insulting and stupid questions he responds fully and patiently. I’ve never heard the man yell at a reporter. I know from insiders that his staffers love working with him. Maybe some water boarding, but never a harsh tone.

How they got the Evil Empire tag is hilarious.

First, I don’t recall being a nice guy as a requirement for either VP or SecDef. I don’t want to drink beer with these guys, I want them to do their job effectively.

Second, don’t you recall Cheney’s comment to Leahy on the floor of the Senate (hint: he used the f-word)? Or him agreeing with Bush about the reporter being a major league “a******”? That’s Lavender Room behavior, not real world behavior.

He won’t. That would mean that the Bush Whitehouse has admitted to some sort of mistake and that still isn’t going to happen.

I don’t feel like surfing over at NRO right now- are you serious? Santorum as SedDef? What qualifies him for that?

This is actually one of the reasons I think Rumsfield is going to stick around for the full term. In addition to the fact that Bush seems incapable of any action that might indicate he made a mistake, who would he get to fill the position? It isn’t as if the current mess could be solved, if only we had the right guy at Defense. (It could maybe have been avoided, and certainly mitigated, if we had a different guy from the beginning, but that’s not the same thing.) Who would want the job right now? Certainly nobody with the slightest hope of a future political career.

Gimme a break, these two goons are famous for being the most irascible, prickly, hotheaded, curmudgeons ever to walk the halls of the White House. Cheney was born with a snarl on his face fer chrissakes.

Didn’t Cheney yell obscenities at Pat Leahey not so long ago, and didn’t Rumsfeld yell at reporters just last week to “BACK OFF”

As for staffers working for Rumsfeld, Tommy Franks almost quit because of Rumsfeld’s micro managing, and Colin Powell quit showing up because Rumsfeld was such an asshole to deal with.

Well shoot. If those would be my two fantasy ‘go-to’ guys in Washington I may be an asshole myself.

How about Now!

It was just announced from ABC News.

you guys are too fast…i thought i might be able to “break” the story to the LR…

Oops.
