How long before 2006 IMCdA entry fills up?

I heard it can take a few weeks before they hit the registration limit at IMCdA?

Anyone remember how long it took last year?

I see IMAZ is still open.

I see IMAZ is still open.

1601 participants according to the website. Certainly interesting that it is taking some time to fill—anyone remember how long it took for it to fill last year?

CDA I would imagine would fill much faster.

amd IMWA only has 178 registered so far, 5 months to go and counting.

Sweet…

IMCdA 2005 filled in September 2004.

What’s IMWA?

A church??

Western Austrailia would be my guess.

now i feel kind of stupid … i raced to try to sign up for CDA thinking i had one day … i cant believe it takes weeks or months to fill up!

It used to fill much faster before IMAZ appeared. Now you have a while.

i did the same thing for IMAZ (rush to make sure I got online before 1/2 a day went by…)

If you want to race it, sign up now. There is no telling how fast it will fill up, for that matter, any race. Triathlon comes in waves and when they’re hot they’re hot. Worst thing that could happen is you have a slot reserved for yourself. Isn’t that better than wishing you had gotten off your ass and registered? You used to be able to wait until September to sign up fo IM Canada and now it’s a day. Wouldn’t it suck if CDA got the same way and you lost out because “it never fills fast”?

Check out the IMCDA site - it is filling pretty quick by comparison to last year. Over 1000 already in

If you are going to do it - why defer your registration?

I understand that holding off gives you other options as each of the next few races end (LP and MOO) but it would be a shame to miss out.

How many were registered at this time 2004?

I am not worried about missing out, though it sounds like a nice race. I am doing 4 IM’s this year and plan on 5-7 next year, plus other ultra events. So coordinating my schedule isn’t easy, given I have young children and IMCdA falls at an awkward time for race conflicts and family schedules. Basically I’d have to leave the day our local schools get out, which is a bit of a rush due to kids’ “social commitments” and IMCdA would be one of those I’d like to take the family to.

I am also guessing that we will see IMV (Williamsburg, VA) or IMMD (Cambridge, MD, in place of Chesapeakman) in Fall 2006, (IM70.3 series is obviously designed to provide slots for additional, full IM races) so I would guess that we see some of the demand get spread around and absorbed a bit differently. This year’s IMAZ is still 1,000 entries under limit, but that will be a great race in a few years as the location is excellent and they get through their implementation curve.

While it is a cachet to have IM’s fill up the day of the race, that is something I am sure WTC/IMNA are working to prevent because it stunts the overall growth of IM by limiting “1-day registration” races only to those people who know a full year in advance their schedule and are quick on the trigger.

Personally, if I miss reg for IMCdA, I have plenty on my plate (and taking out an “option” is would probably be a good thing

Well if you’re quick you could sign up for IM Switzerland here in Zurich on the 17.07.05 (or 07.17.05 for you guys/gals). 5 slots available.
