Anybody know how hot (temperature - not the people) it was at wildflower on Saturday and Sunday? How hot is it usually?
On another note: Naked aid was not hot yet other aid stations had their fair share of nice looking people…
Pro’s - where were Waldo (“ear infection” - whats that about?), Snowsill? Seemed like a fair % of pro’s were no shows…
Bummed that Mr. A’s bike broke…wanted to see how he hammered that bike course.
Sitting and watching the oly race at the bike mount area out of T1 was very interesting. People need to practice that - almost everybody looked fairly incompetent (I’m sure I do to). Shoes/feet slipping off the pedals, crashing into the side, weaving all over the place, bottles getting knocked off - seemed quite hectic. Never watched that before - very informative at what not to do…
From Accuweather for Paso Robles (closest national weather center), Sat was a high of 93, 15 degrees above normal 77. Sunday was 98 degrees, 20 degrees higher than normal. Luckily it wasn’t on Monday! 23 degrees hotter than normal.

And yes, I was the guy that the ambulance came for during Saturday night after stupidly NOT finding the med tent and getting an IV. I thought I could just trying to drink enough to recover. Sunday morning, I woke-up with the nurse working on my 4th liter of glucose in Paso Robles emergency room
(Had a stomach bug that was preventing normal hydration, and I had to finish the court even if I needed to walk.)
I’ve never ended up in this fashion before, so I just want everybody be smarter than me. God invented IVs for idiots that do Triathlons. :>)

Did anyone else take there shoes off during the Lynch descent (some pros were doing it)? I took mine off at the top. I did not feel like I would be comfortable taking my shoes off and corning at 45+MPH.

Took mine off (quickly) at the bottom. Didn’t feel like I would be comfortable taking them off while descending OR descending without my feet in the shoes
I have to say that seeing Peter Reid come down Lynch was one of the most spectacular and scary things I’ve ever witnessed. I was trying to get the shot by staying just in front of him and my moto-rider did an ace job of weaving through the slower riders ahead…but to see Peter take his shoes off mid corner whilst passing slow traffic was amazing. I was relieved we all made it down in one piece!
