I got it in 1, don’t be mad because you lack skills.
Check the Wordle thread.
I live and grew up in Florida. I sometimes say puh-cahn and sometimes say pee-cahn. Pee-cahn is used for a singular nut or tree, puh-cahn is for plural. But sometimes it is the complete opposite. lol
From Texas. Puh-kahn, emphasis on 2nd syllable.
Our travel friends from Canada say Pee-can. We mostly do cruises with them, where the dining room servers are from all around the world, so we always are amused at the various ways people say that word.
I pronounce it “urinal”
Puh-cahn. More importantly how do you pronounce microwave? ![]()
That’s because half of the people here in SC are from somewhere else now. We are one if not the top destination for yankee transplants now.
I was replying to gman. Haven’t figured out how to quote someone else yet
Depends where I am.
if the rule is “pronunciation comes from the native land” you should all be saying “lobstah”
And, speaking of nuts, the same principle argues for dropping the L in almond.
do the region rules leave us with ape-ricot or app-ricot?
Any rule leading to the former should be summarily ignored.
