Knowing the LBS is trying to sell the last of this years model and next years, are there websites that sell 2011 or even 2010 brand new models? They have to be out there. They won’t just junk left overs.
The manufacturers can’t predict how many people will buy so there must be brand new older bikes available.
How do I get one?
Thanks.
If you are looking at a Trek they are pretty solid about checking their dealer network. That’s how I found my 2.1 last year and it was a steal. Come to find out from a friend up north at a Trek dealer I paid just a bit over their cost! Not sure if the others do it like that, but one punch up on the computer and they found it and maybe 4 days later it had been shipped.
If your looking for a leftover bike, your best bet is to go visit a shop and see what they have in stock or ask if you can order one.
For example, say you want a 2012 Shiv, and you LBS does not have it in stock. They should be able to view Specialized inventory and see what is available.
Cannondale has some promotions on the 2012 Slice. If I recall, QR also had some promos on their Tri bikes.

^^^This, is exactly how I bought my Felt road bike. Got a sweet deal on the previous year model. The LBS ordered it from left over stock.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of legwork and being in the right place at the right time. In my travels I frequent a lot of bike shops and often see bikes leftover from two, three, even four years ago. In fact I purchased a “new” 2008 Specialized Transition Expert this spring from a local bike shop. They’re out there… just gotta make a lot of calls and/or visits. Many dealers list their inventory on their website but I often find that information to be unreliable…
Great guys!!
Will take a look at some LBS then and inquire.
Will be getting FISTS fitted soon so will know just what I need.
Thanks again.

Same here… how I got my 2011 DA in January 2012.

Those days are long gone. Manufacturers don’t need to don’t predict any more. They let the retailers do that. The retailers usually put an order in well in advance of production. For example, my wife wanted a Felt, the LBS tried to order it before they were even in the stores but were told there were no more of that model / size left, the intended production run had been spoken for by existing retailer orders.
So, as far as I can tell the retailers have the left overs, not the manufacturers.

This has been my experience as well. As many have said above, check your LBS, knock on doors, ask around. Also, check out any bike swapmeets and even Ebay.
I found a left over and higher end model (1.8 years old) tri-bike at a major retailers e-Bay website at almost 50% off. I made the purchase.
