How do you fix light scratches on carbon crank arm?

Went for a short 20 mile ride and came back to s few light scratches on my new carbon right crank arm. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix the scratches? The were caused by the velcro straps from my LG tri shoes. I believe it is the hard portion of the velcro strap that caused the scratches.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Clear finger nail polish.

You dont unless you have OCD.

Wow, you’re a bit of a fred, eh?

Brand spankin’ new looking means never used. The guys that intimidate me are the ones with the bike that’s mechanically sound and worn in.

If it is light suface scratches a fine rubbing compound.
Something like this or auto-rubbing compound.

Yea, thats what happens with carbon cranks. You received some posts on how to fix it. I met a guy who had tape on this cranks. He told me it was because he sold his cranks after a year or two and wanted to keep them looking nice.

FWIW: my look beat up.

Longboarder has it correct. I like to keep my bike clean for future resell value. Time’s tough, it’s the only way I can afford to upgrade.

You may actually be able to gently buff them out with common whitening toothpaste, which has a mild abrasive in it.

Goto http://www.meguiarsonline.com/ and sign-up so you can ask the question about it. Some of the glazes they have have fillers for scratches. Carbon fiber hoods are a big thing now and they have products for the scratches.

People treat their cars horribly and place scratches all the time just be improperly washing them Depending on how deep the scratches are, the more abrasive the glaze would have to be. It will take a lot of elbow grease though. For cars, you have the luxury of a DA buffer.
