How do I know when my cables need replacing?

Well, it’s mainly only when the start to show signs of fraying if they are bare cables or if the coating is worn through if they are coated. Otherwise you can get years out of them if you keep them clean and well lubed.

My housing always goes first… Either unsightly cracks or corrosion.

I always take it as a hint when they start breaking in the middle of a ride.
