How Come there Are ONLY TWO 70.3 IMNA Qualifiers?

How come out of the 70.3 series, there are ONLY 2 → California Half in March and the Florida Half in Orlando in May that give out spots to IMNA Ironman events → I am talking about spots available to get into IMoo, IM FL, IM CDA, etc.

Now the only thing the 70.3 series does is give out spots to the 70.3 World Championship in Clearwater in November. One of the reasons why people do or used to do some of those 70.3 tris was to get a spot into IM CDA, IMFL or IMoo. Will they ever add back in the IMNA spots?

Perhaps because that is their only two 70.3 races. I would expect IMNA (NA Sports) to give out slots to their IM races only at races they own. Why would they want to promote races run by others?

The IMNA race spots cost race organziers money - IMNA doesn’t need to give the spot away (since the races are over booked) and with the 70.3 moniker the races don’t need to pay IMNA for the spots since they are filling anyway.

…or if you are the brother of the guy running North America Sports in which case your races in Muskoka and Peterborough get slots to NAS Ironmans :-). This is a good thing since both are within 3.5 hours drive of my home
