any thoughts?
10k feet of climbing perhaps?
Maybe people were expecting a lot of drafting?
Too windy?? I read Tyler’s race report from his web site and he said that he changed his front wheel three times before the race - he couldn’t figure out which one would be the fastest.
Strong headwinds on the way out and “horrible” crosswinds made using a disc dangerous. I only saw one person using one. I have 60 MM AM classic and was almost blown down numerous times on the gullies and wash out areas. Weight is a factor too.

I worked on the race. Two people used discs.
One was a Renn with a HEd 3 Tri Spoke up front. The Other was a Zipp.
These two people were CRAZY!!!
