Yes they do, but I’m ok with the whimsical nature of these threads. Knowing this you then have to read through these threads because the off topic capricious wanderings inside these threads are many times more interesting than the original topic.

They’re not really “off-topic” as much as they are “multi-directional” or “multifaceted”, I mean the topic is still triahtlon … uh, most of the time.
One could just as simply ask “Why do we have more than 20 threads?”, since the same 20 topics are discussed over and over … seemingly forever.

I was riding 47mph today and I totally blew past this guy in full Team Discovery kit … man, what a poser.
On ST I notice threads come in four basic types: a) gear - which is faster zipp v what ever is flavour of the month, shimano v campy, which water bottle is more aero, can I get two tri bikes in a mini, b) training and racing advice - should I do a marathon one week before my first IM, which IM to do, c) pissing contest - macca doesnt get any respect, c) FISTING - how is my position? I would guess just about as many as 2/3 of the threads are on topics that have been discussed in some form or other over the years on ST, some on numerous occasions. What I getting at is triathloning isnt that complicated and therefore after a while there isnt really that much to say, thus after a while most threads wonder off. THis is partly because we are social animals and therefore given some social time our interest will wonder.
I often think of myself as the Ultimate Tri-Poseur.
