I was at the veledrome training and i saw this kid and his coach (from Vision Quest) training, so I talked to them and apparently this was the kids first year riding seriously. I was wondering how good these numbers are and how they compare to some of the world class atheltes. He rode 5 km in 5 minutes 20 seconds, and 200 yards in 17.4 seconds. The kid is 14 ish and is around six one in hieght, dont know wieght or any info.
I am assuming you mean 5km in 5:20 which is still solid for a 14yr old (5 miles in that time would be over 50mph which is REALLY impressive :o)

Well, consider that Boardman did the 4K pursuit in 4:18 or so (thus averaging ~1:04/km), I’d say your information is incorrect: I don’t think anyone can average 1:04/km for 5K, much less a 14 year old. Perhaps you meant 4K?
Im 100% sure that I was told that he rode 5 k in 5:20, maybe the choaches info was off.
