Dear athletes,

Noreen and I will be giving the desert a try, hoping to end her continued sinus problems and surgeries. It was between Xantusia and Tucson. Noreen went to law school in Tucson, giving her 3 good years of health. I started my duathlon racing there and quite liked the community. Rather than going back to visit 5 times/year, we will live there!

We are renting our house here in San Elijo Hills. This is the perfect place to swim-bike-runners. A triathlete would be optimal for us to rent to.

-20 miles of running trails straight out the door. Best place in N. County to start a ride from, without all of the traffic from the coast.

-6 miles from Masters workout with Huxley (same pool Michillie and crew swim from)
-180 meters from a good training partner and land lord, Kenny Souza!
-9.6 miles from ocean

I lived in this area for over 11 years, and I can confirm that the training is awesome there. The Carlsbad masters is a great swim program, you will get to rub shoulders with many of the elite in the sport, and a bunch of die hard old masters that have been swimming for over 40 years. Like Paul said, you can ride on the most challenging rides you can imagine(Palomer Mt.), or cruise down the coast and ride the flats along the beautiful Pacific ocean…

I love where I’m at here, but what I do miss the most, is the selection of great resturants to eat at, all within minutes. If you are thinking about the San Diego area, it is absolutly the best spot for an athlete. Lots of other higher profile spots, but unfortunately they have become like much of LA, crowded and traffic light hell. Just my 2 cents…

I’ll confirm its a great area. We stayed at a friends house 3/4 mile up the hill from there last weekend for Cali 70.3. Definately have to head back to check out some of the riding.

WOW! I am not too far from you and would love to be able to rent your place. I am stuck in a lease for a few more months, and not so sure I can afford that right now. But what a great place to live.

I talked to paul today about his place. I would love to be able to rent it. Its a bit out of my budget alone. Anyone interested in a roommate and splitting it?
