Hour distribution

I´m curious to see how you people distribute your training hours, especially people with jobs, my job is from Monday to Saturday, so If I want to train I have to get up very early. However this week I´m going to train 13 hours and 7 of those hours I´m planning to do them in the weeken 3.5 hrs on saturday and 3.5 hrs on sunday, just bike and run, the other 6 hours are in the weekdays mainly swimming and weights, with thursday as day off. I just want to know if this is a good approach or I should try to distribute the time more on the weekdays.

Thanks
Jaime

im no expert and the info you provide and question you ask is at a pretty high level of generality but here is my .02:

  1. As a working stiff with a life your training hours have to fit wherever you can fit them. you may have to downgrade your expectations if you cannot find enough time.

  2. most working stiffs i think naturally also put in, on average, more time training on non-work days than on work days. for most, this is sat-sun. as basic training week typically is keyed around long run long bike long swim, many like you do long run and long bike on sat-sun. this is fine although for recovery purposes especially early on it might be better if you can get up early and do the long run mid-week.

  3. subject to the recommendation of shifting long run to mid-week and given your time constraints i think your hours distribution looks fine.

  4. pay attention to # of workouts and % weekly time in each sport. from your numbers it looks like maybe 40%-30%-20% s/b/r with maybe 10% on weights. if swim is your major limiter this may be appropriate but if it is running or biking then not. even if swim is your major limiter i think it is not enough frequency as a general matter to bike/run just on sat-sun, so do a few weeks swim focus and then bring bike% & run% back up.
