I have a Planet X Stealth Pro Carbon that was just recently built and the mechanic said that bikes w/ horizontal rear dropouts usually come with 2 screws that basically adjust how close the axle sits to the front of the dropout (and therefore how close the tire sits to the seat tube). Is there a place to purchase things like this? I’ve looked on Planet X’s website but I don’t really know what they’re called so it’s somewhat futile. Any ideas would be much appreciated
I would call your LBS… I’m sure they’d have them in stock.
I was having a problem with mine on my cervelo and when I called my bike store…I just called em rear wheel positioning screws in the dropout and they understood what I meant
Hi,
Your Stealth should come with a nice set of dial style adjusters(ironically like the P4 will be upgrading to:).
Talk to your LBS or if they are clueless…
Contact Velomix (US distributor), or who ever is your importer/distributor and see about getting some if your Stealth came without.
I like the Stealth TT. It is the best cheap carbon going
Tom
Velomix best I know is no longer distie for PX. That being said, I took my screws out as they were all the way in to begin with on my Stealth.
Just got mine a few weeks ago and the screws were allready there. Did you buy it new?
Some bikes, however, don’t have rear dropout screws. When I was at my LBS last year, the mech showed me two bikes in my price range: the Cervelo P2C and Orbea (Ora?). He showed me how the Ora didn’t have the rear dropout screws, but the P2C did. Are there drill holes for those screws on your Planet X?
My bike came with them…I took them out
.
Yes, there are drill holes. I ordered some ‘rear dropout adjustment screws’ off loosescrews.com and they only had one size so I’m hoping that it’s one size fits all. My tire rubs if the wheel is set fully into the dropouts, unfortunately…so I can’t just ride w/o the screws. Well, I can if I have the wheel set up slightly back but I’m worried that if I lay down one of my 1200 watt sprints it might pull the drive side out of alignment. We’ll see if these screws work…
What tires? I cant get any tire to hit my seat tube no matter where the screws are…matter of fact, if you cant find em I will ship you mine.
I believe I’m using Specialized Mondo’s right now on Easton Tempest II’s…
Odd because the OD can not be that far off of every wheel I have. At best my Zipp disk with a Corsa CX on it gets about .5cm from the seat tube…no screws in the drop outs (Frame size L).
Let me know if you want me to ship you mine.
Hi,
Lacking screws and having tire rub at full insertion, here is a temp fix.
Get some small hex nuts that can fit in your dropout slots, one each side,
turn them sideways(so that if looking at them from the side, you can see the hole in the middle)
slide the wheel against them and , lock your qr down and there you go
cheers
Chip,
I’m in the UK, and i’ve seen LOADS of PX Stealths at races. Every single one of them manages to get that 2-3mm “tightness” if they needed. I wonder if yours is worthy of a warranty claim…
Hmmmm…I will get some photos…maybe mine is the messed up one.
Hi,
I have built 3 here in the NW USA and none really needed the adjustors with a 23mm tire. all sucked in would not rub. Odd
tp
that is odd… how much space was there in the cutout when the wheel was all the way in?
Is it possible that it has anything to do with the skewer? or more specifically the width of the axle? is there likely to be any variance at all in that? i bought mine used and the previous owner didn’t mention anything about it. what was weird is before the lbs assembled it i was able to just slot the wheels all the way in and they would spin freely…not sure what to make of that.
no
.
haha, alas. i am out of theories though. if the adjustment screws i ordered don’t fit i’ll be sure to send you a pm about the ones that you don’t need. thanks a ton for all the info
The only thing messed up on yours is the pinkness and those little flowers ![]()
