Hookless carbon rims and running them tubeless

.
is anyone knowledgeable on this topic .
regarding new 29er mtn bike wheels
can i just add stan’s rim strips and tubeless valve cores
the tires are tubeless ready

I’m using hookless 29er rims tubeless. Works great.

Depending on the rim and tyre you may need more then one layer of rim tape to get the tyre to seal. If you cant get the tyre to seat on the rim then a bike store can assist. Often you need a compressor the first time around.

.
more than 1 layer of stan’s rim tape ?

or are you using gorilla or other rim tape .

*may i ask what tires you are using ?

There is no problem running tubeless on hookless rims. MTB rim manufacturers expect this to be the case. You just have the same issues present tubeless with other rims, mainly the tire you are using and getting it to seal the first time. Make sure to use valves with removable cores so you never have to loosen bead to add more sealant. Tubeless or tubeless ready tires will seat easier typically but may take a compressor the first go round. I am currently running Schwalbe mtb tires with one wrap of stans on NOx Composite carbon hookless rims.

Are you talking about road tires or MTB tires? I’d be more cautious with the road tires. Higher pressures than MTB mean the bead will see higher stresses and be more likely to burp. I would definitely not try running a non-tubeless tire in a tubeless setup.

these are mtn bike tires.

what size are your tires ?
