Honey

Is the best food ever.

Anyone know how much fat it contains?

it’s all natural with no additives or preservatives and that McCompany doesn’t use it…so it must be good…fat schmat
.

Honey is good. I like bees too. they’re cool, especially the big, furry ones.

It’s essentially fat free.

and if it isn’t completely fat free…I’d wager it is more than likely the good fat
.

They were giving this stuff out at the cyclocross races last year.

I like honey on toast, but haven’t tried it for training/competition.

Corn tortilla, not the evil flour version.

More fat, less protein.

“Honey mainly consists of a mixture of sugars, together with various trace elements. The sugars are glucose, fructose and sucrose. All brands of honey contain fructose at higher levels than glucose.” http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/0044.htm

Basically fat free…till you mix it with natty peanut butter and spread it on whole wheat bread to create the greatest sandwich EVER

Mmmm, peanut butter and honey.

What’s better, brown sugar or honey on your oatmeal?

Nothing can make the vile, steaming, gloppy, mucilaginous goo that is oatmeal edible.

I’ve been using it in training and digging it. Easier for me to get down than some of the gels and gives me great energy. The honey stingers are great - I think they’ve got B vitamins in them as well.

If its vile, then you aren’t making it properly. Proper oatmeal has a lovely texture.

Now, cream of wheat is truly vile.

Nothing can make the vile, steaming, gloppy, mucilaginous goo that is oatmeal edible…

Wow, that is kind of harsh! I like Maple and Brown sugar instant oatmeal with a serving of Apple-Cinnamon Hammer Gel and some Vanilla Soy Milk added as a pre-event/training meal!

Honey drizzled over hot whole wheat pasta… Yummy.

Honey and Peanut Butter… Yummy.

“What’s better, brown sugar or honey on your oatmeal?”

Personally, I love this raw honey product that a farmer near my cabin makes. It is whiteish and thicker than regular honey and it is just delicous on anything, including McCann’s Irish steel cut oats, my favorite variety of oatmeal…mmmmm good.

locally produced honey always seems to taste better. The stuff i usually get is locally produced, and has nice floral overtones. Lovely.

My grandpa just brought us a huge jar with honey straight from the comb.

Best honey I ever tasted.

When I lived in Canada, occasionally we’d buy maple syrup direct from the farmer. Brilliant.

Honey rules! It’s the original energy food pre power gels and Gatorade. Back in the day (like 20 years ago) my xc ski coach would have bottles of hot tea with lots honey as our Gatorade. When I first started riding I’d bring the tea honey combo on my long rides. I’d also have figs, bananas and maybe a pbj sandwich. (and I was faster then than now) It’s funny how you don’t see these things marketed in triathlete mag? But… I must admit it’s being a long time since I’ve done a long ride like that. Those pre-packaged, lance armstrong marketed “energy” foods are just so damn easy and I guess I’m so lazy.
