OK, This is what I need and I’m not sure if the product exists. Something that starts out hard, you place it in the micro or hot water, stand on it and it takes a mold of your foot. Let the mold cool and then place in shoes.
Very similar to insti-prints used at ski-shops.
Does this product exist? I need some extra support in the arches for my in-line skates.
Thermo Plastic Splinting material - widely used in human and veterinary medicine, is heated in hot water until it becomes soft. Once soft, it can be trimmed and molded to a specific custom shape.
I have Sole inserts (http://www.yoursole.com/) which you mold after putting in the oven for a few minutes. I love mine and they helped out when I had PF. I tried Superfeet but and a few others (non-molding type) and like the Sole better. Give them a try, they have a $ back guarantee
SOLE custom footbeds, work just like any other off the shelf footbeds but you stick them in the oven for a couple minutes first and then stick them in you shoes and they mold to your feet. I’ve been using them for the last year and love them.
Not sure if you’re looking for yourself or for a potential product, but as the proud owner of some of the flattest feet on the planet, I can talk about orthotics a little.
There is NO system (computererized foot pressure thingy like Superfeet, bake-your-own molds, etc) that is better than the time-tested plaster-cast-of-your-feet approach that a podiatrist/chiropadist uses. None. I’ve tried them all, and the only one I’ll use is the cast approach. Yes, it’s much more expensive, but seriously, you pay for what you get. Be it running, snowboarding, rugby, inline skating, skiing or tris, nothing else works as well. My stupid Superfeet orthoptics still feel like crap in my snowboard boots, even after about 20 reshapings by those guys.
By the way, I think the Thermo Plastic Splinting material might actually change shape under the head in your foot.
Foot Smart will make custom orthotics for you. You get a couple of molds in the mail, make your foot impressions in them, and mail them into a lab. Then you get orthotics made expressly for your feet just as if a podiatrist did it. I haven’t gotten them yet, but am seriously looking into it. $99/pair for full length and you can order on the net.
