My home scale bit the dust today and I would like to get your feedback on what one you are using and have found to be accurate.
A $12 scale from Bed Bath & Beyond. I’m sure it’s not accurate, but if I don’t mess with it I can at least see if I’m loosing or gaining weight. I’d like to get a newer one soon - I hear good good things about the Tanita scales.

I’ve been using the same Tanita scale for about 12 years. I’m the only one who uses it and it appears to be very accurate for weight measurement. The body fat percentage measurement via electrical impedance appears to be reasonably accurate if you average the readings over each week, do each reading at same time of day, are fully hydrated, etc.
JenSw says she has a scale that can have results downloaded to her PC for checking trends. She says it’s very useful.
I was weighed at the hospital the other day (one would assume they have top-notch equipment), and that thing was as accurate as the $30 digital scale at my workplace which I use periodically. (I refuse to own one, lest I become obsessed with the numbers!)
So, they seem to be much the same for accuracy across the board. The key is to use the same one all the time.
I have a Homedics body fat scale. Can’t comment on the accuracy of the body fat measurement (and bone mass, hydration %, etc), but weight wise I can tell it is not 100% accurate and that used to bother me (given how much I paid for the thing). If you just want to measure weight, a basic scale with a needle will do and it is probably more accurate than electronic ones. The other bells and whistles are nice to have but the novelty can wear off pretty quickly. Some Tanita and other brands now have scales that can send the data to your computer wirelessly, and if you’re into tracking your fitness data, that would be a feature worth paying for IMO.
Original Withings wifi scale; measures weight, body fat and BMI. Uploads to an online site, lets you see graphs and share the day (if you choose).
They have a new version out here:

x2 on Withings Scale. You can set it up to automatically wirelessly upload your data to TrainingPeaks after you weigh yourself as well and it can recognize more than one person in case you have multiple triathlon addicts in your home.

It’s more annoying finding one than you’d think. I bought one of the big brands from the grocery store, and you basically had to kick or stomp it to make it come on. Took that back and tried one from Walmart - was pretty decent but had no athlete mode (I am not 30% BF)
Was about to bite the bullet and buy a Tanita, but tried one more off amazon - it’s perfect, quick, does everything except the wireless/ANT uploading.
I also use a Tanita and I find it to be very accurate. Matches my doctor’s scale and the one at my nutritionist’s office. I don’t use the body fat measurement since I think that’s dependent on your level of hydration. The one thing I wanted to be sure of is that the scale would give me the same weight each time I stepped on and off. Lots of scales won’t do that.
Not sure of the model number, but it looks like this one:
Tanita. It talks to my Garmin, it uploads to Garmin Connect. Bam, tracking is done for me!
In the market for a new scale (mine bit the dust too). So which scales have a seamless means of transferring to Garmin Connect? Is it just the Tanita? Also with the Tanita, do you need to have your watch turned on and next to scale? If so it seems too complicated. I am looking for a scale that has wifi and get send data to GC via wifi without needing the watch to be nearby and on.
The ones at the gyms I go to. They’re better than consumer grade ones anyway.
I got a Taylor bathroom scale at Target. Took it into work and compared it to our lab quality scale that is regularly calibrated by our calibration lab. It was within 0.2 lbs.

Do they upload to garmin connect?
My athletes sync to Training Peaks primarily but a quick search appears that it does http://support.syncmetrics.com/knowledgebase/articles/227750-withings-weight-to-garmin they have a very good list they work with.
