Home Depot = the movie office space

So instead of $$ as a christmas bonus, they gave employees a whopping 20% off coupon that expires in March! So basically, employees have to spend money to receive a christmas bonus…

well, I posted mine on ebay! What do you think I will get for my white envelope?!

crap, i just spent money at HD yesterday. oh well day late and 20% off of my wallet.

Man, that’s sad and insulting. Almost like tipping the waitress a few pennies – just to make sure she knows you didn’t just forget.

However, as a stockholder of Home Depot, I hope this “savings” does something for my share value, because it kind of sucks right now.

That sucks! Really sucks. You need to work for Goldman Sachs and try to get a piece of the 11 biilion $ bonus pie…

I received a portable DVD player and two bottles of wine. I was happy with that!

yup. I gave my 2 weeks notice this week!

That is really cheesy!

My wife got stock options. Her company does this almost every year. The problem is the options are not exercisable for several years. The stock has had wild swings so sometimes these options are worthless. She has some options at around $20 and the stock is now around $6. OTOH she has some at about $1.50 that can be exercised next year. Of course she has to have the money to exercise the options.

you got a bid !!!

Our company launched a new diabetic drug in August that TANKED so no Christmas bonus this year…oh yeah and they cancelled our national POA meeting that was to be held at Disneyland next month! My company blows!

Of course she has to have the money to exercise the options

Why not just sell the options? You don’t have to exercise them to get rid of them.

what skill set do I need to apply at Golman Sach?

I know! Cool! I saw others with the same idea and it went up to $50! :stuck_out_tongue:

“Why not just sell the options? You don’t have to exercise them to get rid of them.”

How does that work? Can she sell the options even though the exercise date is several years from now?

No, but those that are exercisable, you can buy and sell the stocks at the same time…effectively. No real cash outlay. You just net the difference in the excersise price and the current market price. Or, like you said, it may just seem like you “sell” the options. Contact your local financial institution, or whoever may manage your company’s options, on how to do it.

… but like the lottery ticket purchased by the office the Goldman Sacks bonuses after distribution to everyone amounted to chump change. One guy got only $54 mil. Pathetic !! (:0)->-<

I knew someone could explain it better than I.

They make the excercise date in the future to provide you with an incentive to stay at the company.

Are you seriously charging someone $10.88 to mail them an envelope with a coupon in it?

shipping…is FREE
.

Amazing. I cannot even fathom receiving that kind of money as a bonus…

one-tenth of one percent of that is $54,000.

I’m not sure what your beef is, to be honest. I may misunderstand something here…were you promised a cash bonus this year? You didn’t say. If that’s the case, then you have a reason to be miffed. If not, you seem to be whining ungratefully.

Not everyone gets a Christmas/Chunukah/Saturnalia/Festivus bonus. I’d reckon most people don’t. I haven’t received a Christmas bonus for many years, and I’ve only had one job in which I did.

A bonus is a gift, and you seem ungrateful.

Is there nothing in HD that you are thinking of buying, and a 20% discount wouldn’t be nice? If it really offends you, PM me your address, and I’ll come pick it up.

(Disclaimer: I own stock in HD directly, and likely through mutual funds, as well.)
