Hot damn! Congrats to Ben Collins of Seattle, my roommate until a year ago. Fastest swim that I can see, third fastest bike I believe and finished off with a 34:20 run to win by a bit more than a minute.
Last year his goals were:
-wait to turn pro until after ITU worlds
-WIN ITU worlds
-Turn pro
Well the first two are down and I just printed him up his ITU pro suits so I guess he’s on his way! Congrats Ben!!!
btw, he posts here sometimes but it’s pretty rare…
ha, yeah, he’s gotta work on that run. He’s probably already shaved 4 min off in the last year or so though so maybe in another year… hey look at Potts right;)
I’m glad to see he won this year. I met him last year at worlds and it was too bad that he crashed out. He is a nice guy and I hope he does well as a pro.
hey, just curious, which wheels he ended up running? last I talked to him he had a plethora of wheels and couldn’t figure out what to do with what. Gotta call him…
AT Hamburg I rode the Blink Carbon TT frame from Beyond Fabrications. No doubt the engine is what made the bike go the 3rd fasted split of the day, and send me off to a victory, but the frame and wheels helped. A lot. My last bike, a Guru Trilite isn’t even worth comparing. I’ve done two races on the Beyond now, and they’ve been my two fastest bike splits. One was part of a course record at Folsom, and the other helped me win worlds.
I was using the 85mm Blink Carbon rims. The grooves are supposed to make side winds less of a problem. The wind didn’t even notice me. (~14mph, and everyone else was talking about it, I really didn’t even give it a thought.)
This weekend, I’m going to be racing my first Pro race in Poland. An ITU Continental cup. I’ll be using the Radius Carbon road frame with the 50mm Blink Carbon wheels for that race.
