Holy **** it's good to be back

After a hugely ****ed up year (furniture breaking on me taking my knee out in May and a severe case of pneumonia in September) I raced an indoor triathlon today.

Took me 24 minutes to swim 350 yards, ride 3 miles on a spin bike and run 1.5 miles around a track and I felt like death the entire time but damn it’s good to be back up and running again.

Yeah yeah, no substance at all, but I just needed to share my excitement.

Good on ya! Positivity yeah!

Nice! Congrats. Know the feeling.

way to go! keep after it.

Awesome! Gradually you’ll be back!

I know the feeling! Good on ya. You’ll be back in no time

Good to hear from you again. No doubt you’ll be crushing dreams this year.

Congratulations man… keep that momentum going. Nothing better than getting back at it!

Huge congrats for the big steps on the road to recovery. Pneumonia is a b*tch to recover from, let alone a broken leg. Glad you’ve stuck with it!

Yeah man! Great job

Welcome back! Here’s to a much better 2014 for you.

Next race in the series was today, 550y swim, 4 mile spin bike, 2 mile run.

8:45 7:00 13:20, so nice to be back at it, I can’t wait for the spring races.

Swimming is still really hard, my arms and shoulders are fine, but my lungs are still giving out pretty easily. I can’t go hard, but I finish feeling fresh at least.

“lungs giving out” may suggest problems with breathing pattern
.

Glad to hear you are back. What races do you plan on doing this year?

I’m just doing my same old breath to the right pattern I’ve always done, my lungs just took a hit. I have the same problem running at my max, my lungs feel fine and then suddenly I’m panting and my chest is burning and I have to stop, but I can stay barely under that pace just fine.

It’s just hitting me harder on the swim for whatever reason, so it’s making training a bit tougher. I don’t know really though, I could have a bad breathing pattern.

And I’m planning on the Cache valley super sprint, Utah Half, Mesquite Tri-state marathon, and I’d like to do one of the Bear Lake halfs. I took the run really easy at St. George last year after my bike issues, so I’ve been really tempted to sign up for that one again too so I can see what I can really do.

I’ll probably do all the SDRC races as well, I missed them all last year and really love doing those little races.

well done on your recovery, and bon courage on the road ahead.

Last indoor race of the season, did pretty well.

750 yard swim in 12:01
5 mile spin in 9:16
3 mile run in 19:54

Ready to start racing outdoors already.

nice! the 3 mi time especially

Thanks. My lungs finally seem to be healed up and I’ve been able to do some more intense workouts again, so my speed is coming back quick.
