Was on Gordo’s site. Right now lake at 55. I have swam in 62-63 but never a 2.4 in the fifties. Will not have to worry about my little buddy getting sat on while mounting the bike because he will have disappeared somewhere.
That’s a cold surface swim but in a wet suit you’d be OK. Wouldn’t want to do it in just a speedo. How do you spell “shrinkage”.
I was in the lake last week, up to my knees, and I’m sure I experienced shrinkage just by teasing the boys with that water. It is COLD!!! The weather is finally supposed to turn warm this week, so the lake will have about 8 days of summer to heat it up prior to the race.
It’s going to be hot as hell the next couple of weeks in the PNW, don’t worry. It will be a refreshing 62 on race day. Beautiful! Glad I’m not racing.
What’s the issue? 55 in a wetsuit is not cold at all after the first 10+ minutes. Remember, it’s always ~98 degress in your wetsuit and everyone else is in the same boat. Good luck to you and your little buddy.
I’ll take 55 degree water temp. over “hot as hell the next couple of weeks in the PNW”. I thought last year was an apparition?? I don’t do heat well.
Not only will you need a wetsuit, but a warm one and a neoprene cap and ear plugs. That is cold water. New Zealand was about that or a couple degrees warmer- and it was FREEZING!!!
Well my T1 will have to do. The one you said was least warm
Also,Thanks for your advice and comments a few months ago on answering a question I had. My compacts with 13-23 not only works in theory but works great.
