Hollywood Women Vs. Afghan Women: Who's Braver?

http://www.jessicaswell.com/images/hollywood-women.jpgLet’s see: From the left, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Christina Aguilera and Oprah Winfrey. Three multi-mullionaires and a multi-billionaire, made fabulously wealthy by modern media and communication, discussing how badly women will have it under another Shrub regime.

Hmmmm…A photo of Afghan women lining up to vote for the first time ever. Taliban remnants had promised particularly harsh reprisal were anyone to show up at this site and vote. These women believed enough of the remnant’s promise they individually went through a Muslim death ritual in advance of going to the polls that morning.

This is what defines the struggle for democracy in Afghanistan and Iraq. And who’s given the women in these two countries the opportunity to have a say in their future? Mr. Kerry? Not hardly. If it were up to him, Saddam would still be in power and these women wouldn’t be outside of their hovels without an armed male escort accompanying them.

It’s a clear-enough choice for me. Shrub, for all his faults (and there are many), is killing ALL of the rats who’ve gotten in the house and attacked the children. I’m willing to give him for more years of rat-killing.

K (I don’t have a joke sign-off name this time…the above Afghan picture has made me temporarily sober)

You might want to take a closer look at that picture and edit the last part of your propaganda above.

How come anything come from the Shrub side is propaganda but anything coming from Saint John’s side is the verified truth?

The pictures speak for theirselves. The presence of American or coalition forces doesn’t mean that that was the male escort I was talking about. Normally, in Afghani households where women wear a burqa, the woman is not allowed in public without a husban, brother or other related male family member close by.

I see a couple troopers, some children (boys and girls) but not a hell of a lot of other men. Do you?

But, I suppose it’s easier to dismiss what one doesn’t want to hear or see as a falsehood rather than to debate it with fact, which appears to be a common fault among the more liberal-oriented Bush-hating posters here

Try again, stud.

K

I am guessing here, but Joe may have a problem with the Chador wearing women.

If I am right, Joe, then my response is take a peek at the bigger picture. You know, the FRANCHISE?

The fashion police will be in later waves with the McDonalds, Walmarts and all of the other soul destroying indicia of evil American hegemony. (not that there is anything wrong with that . . .;-))

I think you are once again painting me into your rosy dualistic scenario. The Dems spew as much propraganda, intentionally or not, as the Repubs. Ralph Nader tells a story that makes it sound like the Dems are going to get some bad press eventually from all the voter registration harrassment they’ve given Ralph’s folks in the swing states.

Afghan womens right to vote a reason to vote for Shrub? Gimme a break…you are starting to sound like Hannity.

So you’re at least willing to concede that he set the conditions, through his overthrow of the Taliban regime, for Afghan women to attain the same rights that women in Western democracies have enjoyed for years?

Or did the Taliban suddenly just give up the ghost and run to the hills, taking OBL and his coterie with them?

But hey…maybe Jean Francois Kerry would’ve done it the same way. After all, he praised the Bush approach back in 2001, on Larry King Live

**maybe the votes of these afghan women bear as much weight as the vote of all the americans voting right now and whose votes will be ignored by some archaic voting system where the winner takes all, and screw those who voted against me. **

I don’t know about their votes bearing any weight over here in the U.S., but I’m pretty sure that their votes will FINALLY have some weight in their own native land, which is a great place to begin. Even Jean Francois Kerry must be happy about that, though John “Heal the Sick, Raise the Dead” Edwards is all puckered up over it, apparently ;-))

So much for the “Afghanistan is the graveyard of foreign armies” belief. Hey…maybe they meant European and Russian armies?

He was responsible for this, however its simply a by-product of our larger goals and something many like to point to for a distraction from what we really went over there to do. Bin Laden’s face reminded us of one major goal that we have not yet accomplished.

Ahhhh…when all else fails, conjure up the fellow who’s just released a tape, and who bemoans the fact of American dominance, and who also says words to the effect of “if you don’t attack us, we won’t attack you”.

Sounds like a pretty ringing endorsement of the wider war on terror to me. I think the U.S.'s intitials should really stand for “Unconditional Surrender” Because that’s the game Shrub seems to be playing to me. I wonder if Jean Francois would be willing to be that tough?

“We’ve Got Them On The Run, Now Let’s Finish The Job” Kahuna

Kahuna, just because you’ve come to the realization that famous Democrat women are much more attractive and numerous than their Republican counterparts doesn’t mean you need to play the, “Who is braver then hollywood women” card. Those Afghani women are braver then Repub. women, or the people on this board for that matter if they really do risk getting shot just to vote.

UBL is still alive last time I checked. Zarqawi is just as dangerous and Bush passed on the chance to take out Zarqawi

Do you care just which particular rat in a whole rat’s nest is killed first? And is this particular rat and his little rat babies able to cause any trouble or bite anybody right now?

Has this rat been able to carry out a terrorist attack on the United States since 9/11, when we started sending out the rat-killing cats onto his trail.

Hmmmmm…John Kerry, in an interview on Larry King Live back in late-2001, agreed with the President’s strategy for isolating and then hunting down OBL, and had no qualms about the Tora Bora operation, given that NO ONE even knows if OBL was there or not. Or is everybody on the Left a victim of poor impulse control? Ever heard the Chinese phrase “softly, softly, catchee Monkey”?

Zarqawi is isolated in Fallujah, and the Marines are getting ready to pancake that town. Also, the terrorists in Iraq aren’t trying to kill as many people as they can to influence the outcome of Iraq’s January election, they’re doing it to influence the outcome of OUR election tomorrow. And many of you, apparently, are falling for it.

Well, I think you need to get your head out of the sand, or some other place, and read what I was saying and implying about the wider war on terror.

Face it, your guy is a panty-waisted Liberal who voted against the first Gulf War Resolution, so that alone makes me believe that there will NEVER be an instance in which he’ll be comfortable using American military power to combat the bad guys.

He can get on tv and spout tough-guy rhetoric all he wants, but that don’t make him a gunfighter. All it makes him is even more suspect. I’d respect him more if he’d have acted like Howard Dean. At least you knew where that guy stood. This goofball ping-pongs from one position to another, depending upon the time of day and the crowd he’s in front of.

When it was convenient and politically expedient to be for the war on terror, he was (witness his strong support of the Afghan, and Tora Bora, operations on Larry King Live back in 2001 and his support of the war in Iraq when he needed to do so in the primary debates against Howard Dean). And when it was time for a flip-flop, he flip-flopped (all of a sudden he “evolved” his opinion on the Iraq war in the face of a strong Howard Dean anti-war challenge leading up to Iowa). Good god, man…does this guy have even one single conviction that he’s willing to stand upon? I think not.

But go ahead and vote for him. It’s your right. And I’ll vote for my guy, which is my right.

K

My god, Tibbs. You’re a walking Repub sound bite.

You forgot to mention “flip-flopper” though. And you should mention that being the President is “hard work.”

I remember watching a special on CNN that aired prior to 9/11 about the Taliban and Afghanistan. I think it was called Inside the Veil.

Back then pretty much nobody gave a damn about what happened to these people, especially not the democrats or republicans.

It is interesting to note that the ‘Liberal’ network showed us what the Taliban were really about (pre 9/11), meanwhile the ‘Conservative’ network were showing us daily police chases through LA.

What if… what if… Gore was president because last time I checked he’s the guy who ran against Bush…

Kerry has already stated he would have gone to afghanistan so for all we know those brave women would have had the same chance with Kerry leading us.

– This goofball ping-pongs from one position to another, depending upon the time of day and the crowd he’s in front of.

Didn’t I tell you to stop listening to Hannity? You have too many college degrees to spout that kind of platform rhetoric. I’ll take my chances with the ping-ponger. It can only go up from here.

this is interesting…just giving this thread a little nudge.

– Are you saying Kerry doesn’t pander?

Don’t we all pander from time to time? Ok, well maybe not you Tibbs…
