Holidays - xmas

before a little stop in phoenix on the way back (to test if our dogs will eat desert dude’s cat  before we come back for IMAZ) we are planning on 7 to 10 days somewhere where the weather is nice, it’s fun to train and we can take the little buggers with us…also planning on not more than $700/wk for lodging (home preferably)…so places considered so far are
Tucson, lake Havasu…

we’d like somewhere nice, with nature around, not building, and not more than 15hr drive from EP (I can’t believe that as an ex-euro I actually wrote, not more than 15hrs drive…)

Marcie the Mermaid and I are on the way down to Arizona for… I don’t really know why. She texted me, said we were going to Arizona for my birthday and that was it. We’re going. Training is the excuse.

There has been discussion of hiking, firing automatic weapons in the desert, rafting, etc. General leisure.

I’m not a big holiday person, but we always seem to have fun. We did at Iceman last weekend.

Even still, can’t help but think I should be getting off the plane in Thailand in a couple hours. Sucks. :frowning:

how about
Palm Springs and areas in SoCal?
lake Tahoe (yeah I know, it will be cold…)

i will rent out my futon suite to you and your entire family for dinner each night and a case of miller high life for the week.

It don’t get too cold in florida.

We can even ride together francois.

edit; made my futon sound cooler

anyone with a calculator who can tell me

  1. how high above the speed limit to go from EP to FL in 15hrs?
  2. how many tickets will I get and how much will it cost?

don’t forget…

  1. how much more aerodynamic drag force your car will expierence and how much it will cost in gas?

d

Francois, I went to Palm Springs last weekend. Avg 89 mph going there and 85 coming back (people can’t drive when it rains in the desert) I saw 3 cops none whom seemed interested in pulling me over even though I was between 15-20 over the speed limit when I saw them. I got passed by at least 50 cars doing 100+.

Any special food requests? I enjoy cooking and don’t get to do much, unless you count noodles.

eclairs au chocolat, profiterolles, foret noire, crepes au sarrazin, tartiflette, raclette, fondue au fromage…these are all fine!

maybe, we’ll stay quite close to PHX. found a cool place in Lake H and also one in Tucson…lake tahoe’s too far.

Dude, Icouldn’t bake a cake if my life depended upon it. How does smoking a turkey and/or ribs, grilling steak, pizza sound?

sounds good…is it ready? we are there

The Crest (Angeles Crest) and Santa Monica mountains are great places to train. the crest can have the occasional snow though. the mountains around San Diego are supposed to be great. PM Mike Ricci about them.

you might want to contact Mike Plumb about San Deigo/Carlsbad area as well.

Borrego Springs outside San Diego might be worth a day or two if you are in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area. Prescott is nice for scenery but I’ve never ridden there and would be a bit colder. If any of you guys do a preview of IMAZ I’d love to join in, you can start/finish at my house if you like (1/2 mile from Tempe Beach Park). I did the course today into a 20mph headwind going out, only took half as long to come back. I’d be happy to do the run with you if your willing to wear shackles.

I’ll PM or email you regarding riding the course. I’m not on my bike again until this weekend and will probably ride real easy and short this weekend. I’ll be in touch.

"anyone with a calculator who can tell me "

perhaps frank day would like to chime in on that one;)
.

Hell, no, please swear he isn’t coming on this thread!

Actually, that’s who I meant. Oops!
