Hobbies Outside of Triathlon

What does everyone like to do apart from triathlon?

Like what hobbies do you do when you have some spare time or are in the off season or injured or something.

video games
scrabble
hiking
rock climbing

Slowtwitch?

I like to watch TV and eat bacon with my cat and two dogs.

I use most of my “hobby time” for swim/bike/run currently. I also love to cook which lines up well with my other hobby which is eating.

Other free time is spent on my kids, time with my wife or stuff around the house. My wife and I are movie buffs so we watch a lot of movies together and I also read quite a bit.

Off-season or when I’m looking for something new, I hit the gym for some weight-lifting, play water polo in a local co-ed fun league, hit the trails on my mtn bike or take some classes like yoga, pilates. I also took some time off a couple years back to learn how to box which was a blast. I still lace up the gloves now and then and hit the heavy bag which is a great way to relieve stress.

Teaching my son silly rhymes and the lyrics to Weezer songs.
Shopping for South American real estate with my wife.
Sand volleyball.
Golf.
Skydiving.
Getting my bell rung at the poker table.

I’d do any one of these over tri training any day…

Fortunately, I’ve got time for all of them

Jeeps and their associated offroad fun including: rockcrawling, trailriding, camping, metal fab, general Jeep destruction and re-construction with a hammer and duct tape.

Archery
.

parlour games: ping-pong, foosball, pool, darts
video games to a smaller degree
girls when i’m not fed up with their crap.

Skiing powder so deep I can’t see or breathe (or as close to that as possible, as often as possible) - if I could do this year round, I probably wouldn’t be into tri’s at all. I originally got into triathlon as a way to keep in shape over the summer and not have to ‘ramp up’ fitness-wise every December.

Golf…about an 8 handicapp…just got back from playing 18 holes…temp 106…score 75 : ) Started playing about 18 months ago.

Poker…won my fair share of 60 person tournaments…I play 3 nights per week in small tournaments and play on-line alot @ Pokerstars

Snow skiing…national ski patrol for 5 years…now just ski for fun

#1 is scuba diving and I’ll get another vintage Triumph or MG once my son is done college.

Soccer
Golf
RC planes
and of course family time…

Let me know if you are looking into real estate in Panama

Peace

My father in law is rebuilding an old Morgan. He’s rebuilt alot of MG’s and had a Texas State Champion Corvette.

The Morgan now has dual carbs, rebuilt engine, chopped hard top that pivots up on pistons and custom doors. Hopefully I own it when he’s done with it: )

As we say here, shoot under temperature reading  I have a problem when it goes below 90, it gets very tricky

.

Riding my other bike a 1996 Harley Davidson Fatboy, Playing 9 ball in a local pool league, and surfing when the waves are up.

I like that…its better then “shoot under your age” : ) So a 75 at 106 is really good!! I can pretty much beat that score/temp thing about 80% of the time here : ) It will also depend on the course I play each day. the temps here wthin 20 miles can vary 5-7 degrees. The course was at 106 and when I got home 20 miles away and up 1500ft it was only 102 : ) Still friggen HOT!!

I play between noon and 4PM so I have the highest marging of error

Peace
.
