Hitch rack like a roof rack

So my LBS guys were showing me some rack options (I’m presently using a crap hitch rack that just clamps onto the top tubes and I’m not 100% confident with) and I read some of the previous postings here (blah blah roof rack dry up your chain and bird poop etc.) What about this type? I also know canadiantire & mec has some cheaper versions based on the same principle…

also I notice that this style seems more fitting for SUVs or Vans; I’m guessing with my Civic there’s enough turbulence behind my trunk that having the bikes perpendicular to the wind might not be so smart?

and yes keeping my bike inside is ideal and what I was doing but now that I’m somewhat involved, I don’t want to keep putting the other bike on the crap hitch rack that I have now (which I bought waaay back when I was a student.)

A better alternative is the Sportworks rack. Same premise but infinately easier to use. For Vans/SUVs, it’s the only way to go.
