Hip pain with new position?

Hey all,

I broke my last tri-bike (roughly 79 degrees/9 cm drop) so I rode my road over the winter/fall. Now I have a new tri-bike and am about 3 cm further forward and a 15 cm drop. Feels good yet I’m getting a funky left hip soreness. Seems to be just posterior to my greater trochanter and deeper - ? muscle vs. ITB?

Anyone else have hip issue with steeper/bigger drops? And no I did not make little changes - one big change all at once with continued high miles (for me).

Although I did take a few days off (for work) and rode my road bike yesterday and ran and I still had it. I mainly feel it after the ride/run after I sit for a while - never on the bike while riding but I will feel it in a slow transition on a brick. Never slows me down -as of yet…and gets better/goes away while I run.

Chime in ortho guys.

Proximal ITB???

Maybe your running is the real culprit. Are you keeping your hips level? Is your cadence too slow?

How flexible are you? Do you do a lot of stretching? I had some Sciatic nerve problems when I first went to a steeper postion, but after stretching and over time it went away and now I’m comfy and fast!
