HIM training program

Does this sound adequate for a HIM training program for someone who has already completed an Oly, and who races bikes…(cross/road)???

My bike will be in the 40-60 mile range, but it may be my only bike for the week, and I will be done in about 1.75 -2.5 hours. I will do intervals, hill climbs etc, all in one ride. I can do this, because I know my body as far as cycling, and I have a sound established base to work from. Swimming I am okay at, albeit a bit slow, but the engine is sound. So I will swim at least 2 hours, maybe three per week doing drills, and sprint intervals to increase speed. Running is my worst, so I will probably run about 3 days per week, 3-4 miles on 2 days with 1/2 mile on 1/2 mile off intervals at sub 7 minute pace, and then one day of about 10-12 miles at a steady pace, 8-9 minutes.

Total time: 6-8 hours per week.

Thoughts??

Oh and I’m hoping for a 5.5 or less time? Am I being unrealistic? Or is it possible…Thanks.

Thoughts??
Looks like you don’t have to worry about overtraining.

I know, and I wish I could commit more hours, but with working 60-80 hours per week and having to spend time with my wife and fifteen month old daughter, there is a limited number of hours left for training. I think the reason behind posting this was to ask if there was a better way to be utilizing my training hours, limited as they are, to get the maximum benefit. Any thoughts as to how to better maximize my time?

There is a 13 week plan in that book, training plans for multisport athletes. I know a few guys who used it and went like 5:30 ish on fairly low weekly volume, check it out.

Thanks I will, luckily, I have like 11 months to prepare, I only have one more tri this summer, and then a few cyclocross races this fall. A couple of road races in the spring, and then the HIM. SO, I do have about 10ish months to prepare. Thanks for the book referral.

That same book also has a 27 week program in it for the Half IM. There is another one out called “the perfect distance” which is all about HIM.
