Tom, great country to visit - OK I’m biased - like Mr Lessing I was born there … my parents still live there and I can tell you media hype is VERY over rated (negative)… A MUST GO PLACE!
Why are there no vikings at this race is what I want to know. Come on Bjorn…is it really that hard to race another Ironman so soon after NZ? Think of your fans man;-)
Any predictions? I hope Raynard wins, he is a great guy! I had the absolute pleasure of having Raynard, Natalie and the kids stay with us after his win in Penticton last year - what a wonderful humble man. Word on the street is he is in awesome form - won a half iron in Johannesburg in Feb in 4hrs flat - besides he owes Lothar one…should see fireworks from Raynard this summer on the North American circuit now he is part of the Timex team. Here is an idea hows about a group of slowtwitchers hit PE next March for the full IM verion? I know the area well and could certainly arrange a few homestays with family down that way to help with the costs…anyone really interested email me!
I agree, I was lucky enough to do the first South African Ironman in 2000. What a fantastic adventure. I too am leaning hard on going back next year if it is a full IM again.
