HIM, cool-what to wear?

Well here’s a newb question for you.

I have my 2nd HIM tomorrow and I just checked the weather report. It looks like it’s going to be on the cool side.

Race starts at 9am → 48F
Time I get off the bike → 55F
Finishing time → 64F

Any recommendations on clothing (besides saying yes)?
I planned for warmer weather and the cold stuff has thrown a twist in.

My goal time is 6hr so I’m no where near the front of the pack. A few extra minutes in transistion doesn’t bother me too much.

Easy to get on cycling pants for the bike

Swim with sleeveless shirt under your wetsuit, towel off well, put on cycling jersey and have arm covers rolled up and placed on your aerobars.

For the run roll the arm covers down at the end of bike, pull cycling jersey, arm covers and pants off in transition.

I don’t like the cold.

One piece race suit for everything (under a full wetsuit obviously for the swim). Thrown on some arm warmers for the bike and take them off for the run. That is all I would use.

Of course, I ran a 15K this am and it was 48 degrees and raining (shorts and shirt only and I was fine). I hate being hot on the run, but I like to be a little warmer on the bike.

I don’t see that you mentioned wearing anything under the pants that you pulled off. Wouldn’t there be some kind of penalty for that?

I agree with rroof. Wear your normal race clothing and slip on some arm warmers for the bike. This is what I did for IMOO.

That would be funny.

Just assumed that there would be a pair of shorts of choice to put pants over.

That MAY be enough. Three other things that I would do that take less than a minute to do would be to pull on some knee warmers, gloves and a helmet liner( thin toque).
