My local training buddies skewered me for the training ride I suggested this weekend which included several hills in the 15% range.
I am still in base riding mode. When should I start adding hills to the training?
On most rides around here (Austin), you can’t help but get into some rollers. I am wondering about when to add the bigger stuff.
Any suggestions?
I did IMAustria last year. In my early season training I rode hills (mountains) extensively including training for and riding the Breathless Agony ride in early May. After that I switched to longer rides with more moderate hills (2 miles or less). I felt really strong and rode to a PR on the bike. The Austria course is very fast. The hills are steep but with relatively short climbs and long gradual downs. Great course.

Hi BumbleBee on a different note. Shoot me a message if I can help you with accommodation in Austria.
