I just showed the clip in a journalism class I am teaching. It was a good way to end the week. The students’ reaction was that the Schlecks have to be very nice guys not to walk out on situation like that. Her sidekick cracked me up.
My questions to you is how many people in your class knew who they were?
No one. I often ask the students in this reporting class who’s the greatest cyclist of all time. Lance Armstrong is always the answer. When I tell them most folks including Armstrong agree that it’s Eddie Merckx, nothing but blank looks. It’s also fun to ask them who was the first American to win the TdF. No one has ever heard of Greg Lemond either. If you asked them, I am certain they would tell you I tell too many cycling stories. They’re much happier when I bring up Wisconsin football.
