Hi everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been lurking the past couple of months and I like what I’ve seen. Everyone seems really nice and helpful, for the most part. Now I’d like to join in on the fun.

Some things about me:
-I’m a junior in college - exercise science major. I like most of my classes with exercise physiology being my favorite.
-I did my first tri about a year and a half ago. I was hooked the second I crossed the finish line. I’ve done 4 more since then (sprint, oly, and him). I’m not at all fast compared to a lot of people on here, but I love racing. Before I just wanted to finish the races, but this year I’m looking to improve my times…and I have lots of room for improvement
-The bike is my favorite part, but running is my strength. I just do my best not to drown when I swim.
-I played a lot of soccer in high school (club and varsity). Back then I thought a 3 mi run was a long run, but now it’s just a warm up.

Welcome to the forum buddy. Don’t worry about being slow or anything, just check out the standings in the 100/100 challenge (you have to go to the Online Training Log and sign up for it to see), and you’ll see that we’re not all professionals!

This forum has been good to me so far, and I’ve only been around for a short time. Just see the thread where I asked about where to move in the SF Bay area. Lots of help, even people offering to go on tour rides of the area, things like that.

Welcome!

Where do you go to school?

Senior exercise science major here. U Maine at Orono.

I go to Truman State University. It’s a small public college in north east Missouri. We’re about 20 miles south of the Missouri-Iowa border.

What are you planning on doing after you graduate - PT school? (that’s what most people here go into)

I actually want to be a high school math teacher, so I am going to get a teaching certificate. Considered PT but didn’t get excited about it when I job shadowed and interned.

I don't think they do intros here...we're all too serious, and elite, and...uh...errrrr...stuff. Welcome anyway! :)

HI! My name is TODD and I am an . . .

Welcome!

Glad to hear about your races. I’m a senior at the University of Rochester, just finished my Biology major.

You play soccer for Truman State? We played them and won in the NCAA quarter finals (in Missouri) to go on to the Final Four in 2003. Nice little school. Welcome.

Your seat is too high.

I just know it is.

Hey brz,

Did you do the NEMO race in kirksville last september? I’m a student down at Mizzou and now hooked after doing it as my first race.

LOL! Cool

Actually I don’t play for the Truman. I thought about trying out but the time commitment is huge-both in season and out. I wanted to have more time to do my own thing.

I’m sure it is…I guess I’ll have to put up a “critique my position thread” so everyone can make sure. And while they’re at it, also tell me how organized I don’t keep my apartment. But first I’ll have to figure out how to post pictures.

Yeah, I did the NEMO tri. Actually it was what got me interested in triathlon. I had to do some volunteer work for a class and so I guarded the bikes for 5 hours during the '06 race. I did the race the following year (my second). Do you think you’ll do it again this year?

 No worries…I’m engaged (as of Dec 23, 2008)

Yeah, I will probably be up there for the race again this year. The swim is great, and everyone there was pretty awesome.

Welcome!!! I hope you enjoy slowtwitch. It is very fun and helpful here.

Wasn’t the swim last year amazing? I loved the dense fog over the water. And fortunately it went away by the time I got on my bike.
