HGH test coming

I am surprised no one posted this yet. In USA today I saw an article regarding a breakthrough that will probably lead to a test for HGH becoming available in the next year or two.

Why make a post without a link to the story? Is this it?

If the test is accurate and not cost-prohibitive, that’s outstanding.

I saw it in the print version. That is the story.

I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but what exactly does HGH or HCG do for an endurance athlete?

Bob

Growth hormone helps in protein sparing and substrate regulation. So it helps save muscle from breakdown and into recovery it aids in mobilizing fat to use as an energy source. If you want to know more let me know. I have a stack of articles next to me.

hook it up im i need to learn over this break lol… send me an article or two please!! I know roughly what it does but learning more is always good

So, if you were telling it to a five year old…Basically helps you recover to train more and makes your body use the love handles for energy?

I’m being serious and not patronizing at all. I’ve simply never heard a really dumbed down, simple explanation.

Bob

Oh no worries. That’s actually what i was trying to do. I mean i’m writing my thesis on sprint cycling and GH and to be honest outside of what i’m really looking at its damn near impossible for me to know everything about it.

you should be able to find the abstracts at journal of applied physiology of a good bit of articles. I was trying to find some public ones that I could send out. I’ll keep looking.

Best thing to do is put in a pubmed search for “growth hormone” AND endurance

sweet thanks will do! Just got the book Physiological Bases of Sports Performance so ill be reading that over break too
