Hey windy - another reason to enjoy Cuba

Beautiful women who know how to dance. Just shuddup about politics and enjoy the video.

Meh…

Meh…

The music is all wrong for the video. It doesn’t work. That music would probably put those Cubanos to sleep

You’d be amazed how versatile Cubans are. They love to dance and play music, but not just to Cuban music. I’ve seen locals jamming on the beach with tourists. They also seem to love ABBA and Queen. I took down a bunch of their CD’s to give away just for that reason. And don’t forget the Rolling Stones concert attracted a massive crowd.

Yes, but the dancing was wrong. If versatile they’d be doing the right dance.

Buena Vista Social Club really put Cuba on the map in a more main stream way. It captures the essence of Cuba best I think.

“The original Buena Vista Social Club album was recorded for World Circuit Records over seven days at the vintage EGREM studios in Havana. Released in 1997, the album went to on to become a worldwide phenomenon, selling over 8 million copies and helping to introduce Cuba’s rich musical heritage and pre-revolutionary past”

It makes me want to go back!

It makes me want to go back!

What’s the current status for Americans going to Cuba under Trump? This past winter was the first time I didn’t meet any Americans in Cuba in 22 yrs. Every other year I’ve always met Americans even if they flew out of Canada or Mexico. Under Obama, travel to Cuba seemed top be opening up with regular Miami to Havana flights, but it looks like Trump has been closing the gate?

I guess tRump was distracted by squirrels; very little has changed as to the 12 categories of authorized travel to Cuba for Americans. I went to attend the Havana Triathlon and an athletic competition is on the approved list, so it looks like I could go again. Airfare is up though, as most Americans were scared away from going after the administration change and fewer planes are now flying to Cuba.

around $220 from Fort Lauderdale with JetBlue. That’s not bad.

STOP STOP STOP!!!

Every time you say something nice about Cuba, Castro eats a baby and Windy leaks santorum from his eye sockets.

It’s almost as if you just don’t care…

I’ve been wanting to fish there for decades. Over the past year I’ve been more seriously checking outfitters pricing on trips with hopes of going soon and it does seem to be getting less expensive as opposed to rising.

So I was curious about you guys from upstairs a little and looked at the Gouverment Du Canada site.
Looks like “Five of the top 15 countries visited by Canadians in 2015 were in the Americas”

Cuba is in FIFTH place! what the hell is going on between Canada and Cuba. Apologies if it was mentioned before.
Windy,
Its not Cerveloguy, its a national issue…

American free holiday? I read there are something like 2 million visits from Canadians annually from a country of about 34 million. Realize that just because the USA has travel restrictions doesn’t mean anywhere else in the world does. Cuba attracts tourists from all over the world, not just Canada.

Our options are pretty limited for a relatively quick sunny vacation.

Gotta keep the money flowing so the Cuban govt can afford to help Maduro keep his foot on the necks of his unwashed masses.

My thoughts too, and The Dominican Republic is next on the list with the Bahamas near the bottom of the list. I just find it interesting, no problem at all.

Yup.

I’d say the big sunny resort destinations for Canadians are Mexico, Hawaii, Cuba, and DR, maybe Jamaica in there as well.

Hawaii doesn’t make much sense if you’re east of Alberta. That’s probably an 8 hr flight? And it’s expensive as hell for us.

I think Cuba is more or less 4-6 hr flight from most major Canadian airports, much like Mexico. I know when we went it was 6 hrs overnight from Vancouver.

I just ordered this on vinyl after stumbling across it on a must-own record list. Brilliant musicianship, deep and rich recording quality, brass fills the room from my bookshelf speakers like few other records can do.

And don’t forget that Cuba is really inexpensive compared to other destinations, over the holidays it was HALF the cost of trips to Mexico or Jamaica.

The down side is that the hotel operators don’t make much, resulting in shortages of alot of stuff at the resorts - running out of eggs, bread, wine, etc and the upkeep and maintenance of rooms and facilities is suffering. They need to charge more to do better, but if they charge more people don’t go…it’s a vicious circle.
