Hey Tom: You're "Day in the Life Contest is OVER! Here's your winner

After reading that thread the other day, I got the idea that both Tim and Jeff are the type of people you meet and realize that YOUR life is better due to meeting people like that. Those folks are rare.

After seeing Tim’s family pic, I got the feeling “I wanna meet this dude”

Agreed. Makes me wish I lived in the Southeast.

Hopefully some of y’all will come west to do the great races here in the northern part of CA:
Alcatraz
Vineman and Half
Sentinel
Big Kahuna (hey, Tony needs to do that one…)
San Jose International

We’ve got more…

Whatever happened to that contest anyhow? Did we run Tom off the board and make him bitter? Were prizes secretly awarded? Did everybody get an I-pod for Christmas but me?

How Tom was treated was shameful. 'Nuff said. Tom is right to be pissed. He got cowardly ambushed.

I didn’t get an I-pod either.

Bump…

Thanks for the thoughts Cousin!

I’ve read and re-read the responses to the original post, and I was moved by everyone’s generosity of thought, and not surprised in the least. I’ll thank Tom for coming up with the idea, and for pointing out that this forum is our magazine, and we’re the editors, writers and photogs. I plan on doing more of this in '05.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. I’m sure you all would do the same things if you were in our shoes. One of my favorite sayings didn’t ring true for me until I was in my late 20’s, and I think it didn’t ring true for Jeff until his diagnosis: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

I was never so grateful for friendship until I had to ask a friend for help. Very humbling and opens your soul to that person whom you ask for help. Likewise very humbling to be asked for help, realizing how hard it is for most of us to truly ask for and then accept serious help.

Anyway, I missed the 12/16 contest deadline for posting so my post isn’t eligible for the win. My vote goes to Jim, as his post showed his regular day, not anything special. Truly just “a day in the life”. With bonus points for being willing to show himself at work in lederhosen (sp?). That’s got to count double or triple!

Happy Holidays.

T

Hey, I don’t care about deadlines. There were several entries posted, none of which were particularly memorable, although all were nice.

Then there’s yours. It was so “not a contest” after that.

But then you’ve already gotten quite a prize, haven’t you?
