Hey ShawnF - hyperpaw question

I just started wearing Hyperpaws for road running and spikeless Attacks for off-road this year, after giving up on the cushioned boxes the world likes to refer to as “running shoes”. I love both styles.

Question is: Is Asics going to continue making the Hyperpaw? I got mine off Zappos.com and the site says once this stock is gone, they won’t be replaced. Is this an Asics decision?

Thanks.

The Hyper Paw is part of the ASICS’ Onitsuka Tiger retro collection and the product turnover, because it is more fashion-driven, is about 6 months or so. To answer your question, it has/will be discontinued. If you choose to train in minimalistic shoes, then I would recommend sticking with the spikeless cross country flats. They will stay available for at least a year and are usually only updated with new uppers. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! I will stock up on the Attacks.

Second question I just remembered: what’s the difference between the Attacks and the 51-50’s?

‘15-50’ is men’s version and ‘Attack’ are the women’s style.

hey shawn, while you’re on the line, can you tell your boss to stop changing the DS Trainer! every year, they manage to fuck up what was once the world’s best shoe. i can’t keep up with the numbers anymore so i couldn’t even tell you which one i have. but by color the red and black ones suck and the green and gold were great.

not trying to give you a hard time, just venting my frustration on shoe manufacturers who don’t listen to their customers.

thanks for reading.

Yeah, we talk about this shoe ALOT. I agree some of the previous models have not been up to par…not only do I work at ASICS but I also train in the shoes. I can say that the new DS-Trainer, number 10 for those keeping count, is one of my favorites. They’ve added a little more, 2mm I think, to the midsole to add a little cushioning and the fit, well it fits like a DS-Trainer should fit. It’ll be available first of the year. I haven’t put a ton of miles on them, but they’ve been great so far…better than the last three or four.
