Hey San Diego people -- bachelor party ideas?

This is sorta tri-related…the guy getting married got me into tri’s. We’ve even done one together.

So my best friend lives in SD, and was my best man last fall. Threw me a great bachelor party, as he was my best man. I want to return the favour, since I’m his best man.

Likely mid-June of this year, and in the San Diego area. Trouble is, he’s new to SD, and I don’t know shit about the town. While we’re both tri-heads, I don’t think there’s going to be a lot of thaleticism involved. Typically, I would like an activity during the day where we can drink, a reataurant for dinner, and then bars and other assorted nightlife.

In past, I’ve been to parties where the activity was golf…but I hate golf. Other ideas?

Anyone have a good steak restaurant?

Good bars to drink at? Maybe a few of the, uh, “non-pg” variety?

kart racing. not sure if they let you drink and drive, though.

Kart racing is a great idea! At my buddy Frankie’s bachelor party we played paintball. Big fun.

Get on a boat and go scuba diving. I don’t know if some of the scuba charter boats do snorkel trips as well but there is some great under sea life near san diego.

here’s what my best man did for me a few weekends ago for my bachelor party…

4 am him and 2 of my other friends charged into my house (my girlfriend knew he was coming and left the door open for him), comes running upstairs into our bedroom and throws the light on and yells at me to get out of bed and get dressed. My girlfriend was in on it and had a bag packed and ready to go, we met 7 other guys at the airport and the 10 of us went to the start of Mardi Gras for my stag…

it took me a week to recover… but what a stag!!!

For my bachelor party many years ago, ny friends took me to Pacer’s for boobs and beer. Then we went to the Sports Arena for a Van Halen concert. Finished the night off doing shots of Sauza Conmemorativo and playing guitars. Great party!

I can’t believe nobody’s suggested TJ yet. I just assumed that was what people in SD did for bachelor parties. Never actually been there myself, though. I also went to a paintball bachelor party - very fun. For another party, we rented a huge catamaran and brought along our own refreshments and entertainment. That would be great in SD.

To take care of the food and beer, you can not go wrong in the Gaslamp District. All types of restaurants and bars there. Don’t know if you are into it, but the Padres new stadium is absolutely awesome and is within walking distance of the Gaslamp District. Just walk around and look to see what is hopping and go right on in.

As far as activities besides drinking and eating, I can’t help you. Have fun. By the way, rickshaw (sp?) races are fun as well. When travelling from bar to bar, everyone rent a rickshaw, bet $20 a person and race to the next bar. Can be dangerous but no more than riding your bike!!

Before my bachelor party I had many post-modernist critiques of boob bars in my head. Denver’s Diamond Cabaret, however, drove these silly notions away. Strippers bring everyone together under a common banner and create hilarious stories that last a lifetime.

I was at a bachelor party a few years back where most of the friends were triathletes and the best man happened to be a pro.

We put on plain white T-shirts and went running from bar to bar. We had to consume at least one drink per bar (and mark it with a tick mark on our shirt). Not sure how many bars we visited but my shirt was COVERED with tick marks we managed to squeeze in a 17 mile run while drinking

Some people drove (they weren’t triathletes) and others started running but rode in the cars as the miles reached the double digits.

TONS of fun.

Dicks Last Resort, its a bar. Have fun.

Charter a bus and go to Vegas…

Don’t go to TJ, its a dump. Ensenada is another hour on the road and its much nicer and much safer.

Ditto. TJ is third world and depressing, unless you really want to be buying Chiclets from 4-year-olds at 3 am on the way back to the trolley. This is after you caught some nasty STD, and vomitted after seeing women have sex with donkeys.

Go to Ensenada for the weekend, eat, drink, and lay on the beach.

If you’re looking for an activity to do during the day, there’s 2 major dropzones near SD, some of the biggest/best in the country. A tandem skydive for everyone is a good way to get the blood flowing for the weekend. PM me if you want more info.

You could also rent a boat and waterski for the day or just chill out on the water.
