Paul - we’ve swapped notes on several occasions, and you’ve mentioned the Spinergy trade-in program. I’m seriously considering trading in my Rev-X’s toward some Tilium PBO’s. I checked out your website and found out that my local Performance shop is a dealer - well, I called them up to see if they could tell me more about the program, and they didn’t seem to be aware of it. Said something about how they weren’t a ‘stocking’ dealer, which I take to mean that they don’t actually stock the wheels in-house. So…I’ve got a couple questions. 1) Can I work the trade-in through this shop, or do I need to find another one that actually stocks Spinergy wheels? 2) If so, can you recommend one in the Chicago area? Basically, here’s what I need to know - if I trade in a set of Rev-X’s, what will the bottom line be on a set of Tilium’s? Also - I’ve got a spare rear Rev-X - if I trade it in alone, same deal…what’ll the Tilium’s cost me? (that way, I get to keep the other complete set). I’m trying to decide whether it’s more advantageous to trade in my wheels or sell them outright and use the profits toward the purchase of the Tilium’s. Thanks in advance for your help!
Paul is in a meeting so I’ll step in and answer: 1-You can work the trade in program through ANY Bike Shop. If they are willing to work with us, we are willing to work with them. Just have them give us a call and we can explain the whole things. 2-Performance of course can do it, also in Chicago I recomend Yojimbos, Chicagoland and Rich Duchars shop, whose name escapes me right now… 3-You can do 1, 3 or as many wheels as you like. 4-We don’t set the trade in price, we offer the dealer a reduced cost on the wheel and what they pass along to you is up to them so it behooves you to deal with a shop you have a good relationship with. On another note: we are about to launch an offer where you can trade in ANY WHEELS (and i really really really mean ANY) for 100$ off a new set of Spinergy’s. Any Q’s just ask!
Keith - thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Could you give me the number for the shop to call about the trade-in program? The soon-to-be-announced trade-in program you mentioned sounds very interesting. I’ve got some wheels I’d much rather part with than the Rev-X’s and it sounds like that might be the way to go. When does it kick off? I guess what I’m wondering now is if it would behoove me to wait until the new program takes off and take the $100 trade-in deal, or go ahead and pursue the current deal, trading in my Rev-X’s. In ballpark terms, which is the way to go - figuring in the standard discounted price for the shop, and estimating their markup vs. keeping the Rev-X’s and taking the $100 credit? If you’d rather talk in person, just let me know how to get in touch. Thanks again!

I can read where you so any, but does that really include the original wheels off my 1986 Cannondale that I never did anything with?
Any wheels! Its called the “Pimp My Ride” Program
Hi, my wife and I each have a pair of original Rev-X used only for racing. We are considering trading for Tilium SS.
I talked to my LBS here in Montreal, Canada, and he got back to me saying they would give me 100$ US for the Rev-X if I get a pair at MSR price.
That works out to be for the Tillium SS, 800$ -100$ = 700$. Considering that I can get a pair from rotorcranks at 720$ I was wondering if this is really the spinergy deal (seems pretty bad, especially considering that you would give 100$ for any wheel set), or if the Canadian Distributor, or LBS is trying to pull a fast one on me.
Thanks,
Francois in Montreal

Msrp for Tilium SS is $799 in the U.S. the trade in deal we are running was designed for U.S. dealers. If your Canadian dealer is willing to match that then he is going beyond the call so to speak because he has a smaller margin to work with. We allow U.S. dealers to sell at no more than 10% below suggested retail on an everyday basis. Thats how Rotorcranks gets the $720 price($800-$80). I am not going to recommend either option but there are always advantages to working with a local shop. Service, installation, handling potential warranties etc.
Thanks Paul for the quick answer,
Essentially what I am trying to decide is wheter to trade the rev X or sell them on E-Bay. Clearly, I can get more than 100$ on E-Bay.
If I was to deal with a bike shop in the US, is the Spinergy deal on Rev-X 100$US or more ? I realize the bike shop may or may not pass the savings on to me, but how big a rebate do they get ?
Or, if you don’t want to answer that question directly, let me ask you another one, any chance I can get an equivalent deal as 720$ (price at RotorCranks) - 300$ (price on e-bay sell for my Rev-X) =420$ dealing with a bike shop in the US ?
I go to Lake Placid regularly and could deal with them. I’d be willing to pay a bit more for reasons you outlined before, but it would have to be in the same ball park.
Thanks

I would sell the Rev-X on Ebay. Luke Bell was in here the other day asking about buying a set. His exact words were " those were the fastest wheels I have ever ridden" I would then trade in some old junk wheels for the $100 off with your local dealer. You must have something kicking around.
